BBSRC Sustainable Bioenergy Centre (BSBEC)
Established in January 2009, the Centre represents a £24 million investment that increases UK bioenergy research capacity.
The Centre brings together six world-class research programmes with scientists from 12 universities and institutes.
Fourteen leading industrial associates bring business expertise and perspectives, and support totalling over £4 million. This will help ensure that research outputs are translated into practical applications as quickly as possible.
Ensuring that bioenergy is economically, environmentally and socially sustainable is core to the Centre's programmes.
The Centre is part of the research councils' energy programme.
