The Queen’s Birthday Honours List recognises the achievements of a wide range of extraordinary people across the United Kingdom. Among those recognised in the Queen's Birthday Honours list 2018 are two BBSRC grant holders.
Professor Christopher Dobson, Professor, Chemical and Structural Biology and Master, St John's College, University of Cambridge received a Knighthood for services to Science and Higher Education.
Professor Dobson's research has been largely concerned with protein folding and misfolding, and its links with medical disorders particularly Alzheimer's and Parkinson's diseases. He has been Master of St John's College, Cambridge since 2007.
Professor Jane Langdale FRS, Professorial Research Fellow, Department of Plant Sciences, The Queen's College, and University of Oxford was made a Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE), for her services to plant science.
Upon receiving her Honour, Professor Langdale said; “This is a real honour and I am humbled by it. Whilst the award recognises my contribution to the field of plant sciences, I could not have made such a contribution without the help and support of amazing people throughout my career - students, postdocs, colleagues, lab managers, admin assistants - and of course the dog sitters that enable me to travel.”
