BBSRC to launch new international travel award scheme
BBSRC today announced the closure of its International Scientific Interchange Scheme (ISIS) before the launch of an International Travel Award Scheme (ITAS) that will allow scientists to add an international dimension to their BBSRC funded research.
The International Scientific Interchange Scheme closes 10 July with final applications needing to be entered at least six weeks before travel.
The ITAS will open 11 July 2016 offering awards of up to £3k to help establish new contacts with international counterparts in topics relevant to current BBSRC strategic priorities. The scheme will accept proposals involving collaborations with any other country that offers added benefit to research and is open to Principal Investigators (PIs).
Funding is available to support collaborative activities in areas such as:
- First contact type activities that require short term travel support
- Visiting specific facilities not available in the UK, undertaking a particular piece of work, or gaining access to new techniques or materials which would be of benefit to the BBSRC project or the UK research team. Stays of up to one month in another country can be supported
Funding is limited to travel and subsistence costs only for UK scientists.
The ITAS is a rolling programme and BBSRC accepts submissions all year round; however applicants should leave a minimum of six weeks to allow applications to be processed.
