BBSRC has awarded 15 research institutions around the UK a total of £1.5M to develop knowledge exchange activities and maximise impact from their research.

The one-year Impact Acceleration Accounts (IAA) are being piloted to allow the institutions to quickly and flexibly identify and support opportunities for knowledge exchange and accelerate delivery of benefit from BBSRC investments in excellent bioscience.

Each organisation has received £100,000 after a competitive application process.

Dr Celia Caulcott, BBSRC Executive Director, Innovation and Skills, said: “To get the most out of the world class research that BBSRC funds, research organisations need to be able to act quickly and flexibly when they spot an opportunity to create impact.

“The IAA awards offer precisely this and I am delighted that BBSRC has been able to fund 15 and help these leading institutions deliver economic and social benefit from excellent bioscience.”
