UKRI-BBSRC Workshop on Computing in the Biosciences
Building upon UKRI-BBSRC’s Review of Data-Intensive Bioscience and in response to the recommendation on Digital Infrastructure, UKRI-BBSRC will run a workshop on scientific computing for the biosciences to better understand the computing needs of the bioscience community. The workshop is to ensure that these needs are clearly articulated in discussions on digital infrastructure provision, both within independent research organisations and regionally/nationally going forwards. The workshop will inform our guidance, strategy and promote the exchange of knowledge across the sector.
The agenda will be confirmed closer to the date. The format is expected to consist of a mixture of facilitated discussions to understand the opportunities and identify current needs, and then explore them in greater detail.
Date and location
The workshop will be hosted virtually and be a whole day event on 29 April 2021 from 09:30 to 16:30 with regular breaks and a two-hour lunch break. If you wish to participate in the workshop, please complete the registration by 9 April 2021.
Applications to participate in the workshop are welcome from across the bioscience research and innovation community including bioscientists, technical and facility staff, research software engineers and computational scientists both working in bioscience and collaborating with bioscientists. Please do send this event on to colleagues within your organisation to whom it could be particularly relevant, in particular the technical and facility staff.
